Project for my Drawing class. I had to choose five symbols to incorporate into a self portrait. They had to be representative of your origin, past, present, future, and then one "free choice" symbol. My origin was the Union Jack on my necklace, because my family heritage is English, my past is the bird in the upper left corner because I'm from a small, peaceful town (like a dove? sappy, yeah), my present was the cloud of smoke coming from the train (since my present is "cloudy", again, yeah, lame), the mountains were for my future, as I hope to attend college in the mountains, and my free choice symbol was the train because I love traveling.
There are plenty of things wrong with this that I should have gone back and fixed after I got it back from the display case, but I didn't, as I am too lazy. For instance, I literally finished the entire left side of the drawing fifteen minutes before this project was due. I wanted to go back and make the bird and the train more detailed, but I had been working on this drawing for so long that I was pretty much burned out on it. Oh, and I meant to shade the inside of my hood on the right side of my head, but it just ended up looking like I had drawn more hair and that my head was disproportionate. Ugh. I need to fix that. I might eventually.
Yeah, not the best. But, hey, it was a grade.
Oh, by the way, my scanner's on the fritz, so I had to take a picture of my drawing with my Canon. Just ignore that photo info on the right.
This is really good! We had to do something similar in our class, but I couldn't think of anything important to me, and so my picture came out pretty crappy. :/ I really like yours. Especially the bottom right... I like how it goes from no tiny details to a lot of tiny details! : )

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

I think drawing the designs on the jacket was the most fun part. I actually have that jacket, haha.
